Anybody Heard about KTK Vs KXIP

IPL – 57th match

13 May 2011,Kochi Tuskers Kerala v Kings XI Punjab

Yesterday was a very tense day down south in Kerala and the reason being definitely not the KTK Vs KXIP match in Indore. It was the Elections results , Atleast the result of the elections were so tensed that KTK cannot afford for their fans the whole season. I hardly think of people watching the match in Kerala forget about Punjab , the Punjabi’s very rarely do so.

Rattled them ~yes ofcourse~

The match was nearly a dead rubber both team posing the slimmest of slimmest chances to qualify for the playoffs that the T.V anchors have much hope than their fans does. These two teams can be said as the most inconsistent teams of this IPL (DC and PWI are more consistent at least in their losing). The similarities that both team face are they are the only teams to have beaten both CSK and MI and lost to PWI,This alone shows the amount of consistency shown by both teams. Yet,They battled it out in Indore hosting it’s first IPL match and very few eyeballs would have been interested(ignoring the camera men).Guess what, Miss.Zinta had showered some words of wisdom to her boys(boys????Gilly heard it??).

KTK supposedly playing in their home(only KTK owners knows  the connect between  MP & Kerala) lost the toss and the wily Gilly chose to bowl in a flat track(one of Zinta’s Advice i guess). KTK came into bat and immediately started firing all cylinders with the very first over went for 15 runs and Mccullum and J’wardne ran away with plenty of boundaries and kochi went onto score 103/1 in their first 10 overs losing the likes of McCullum . then the momentum swung towards KXIP who consolidated the next 10 overs only for 75 runs and KTK ended with just 178 which appeared below par considering their start,The chase was ON.

KXIP started their chase knowing very well much depended upon their top 3 . Paul Valthaty and Gilly knew it very well and started carefully before valthaty cut loose smoking two sixes of RP singh on the on side ,he got a little over aggressive and eventually lost his stumps in the same over and now when it seemed it was all upon Gilly and Marsh, Gilly gave Parthiv some catching practice again of RP.Singh leaving Marsh , Karthik and KXIP  @ 31/2 . The match solely rested on Marsh’s shoulders as Karthik who always after a good start loses it , D.Huss terribly out of form and  a very little known lower middle order in chasing a big target. But, Karthik stepped up to the occasion and Sreesanth back to his own form of giving away freebies , Parameswaran also still could not get out of the Gayle Fiasco , Vinay Kumar also could not do much more(He is on his way to Windies after IPL). Runs started to flow very freely from Karthik’s and Shaun’s willow as KXIP stabilised @  84/2 needing 95 of the last ten. From, then on 5 sixes were scored from the next 3 overs  and Karthi and Marsh have scripted a good comeback and @ 14 overs they needed 37 of 36 . Then,RP.Singh came back and packed both Karthik and Marsh of the 1st and last balls of the same over, KTK smelling a twist in the tale. But, D.Huss stayed there until the end and avoiding any twist and Sreesanth was bowling of what became the final over and KXIP cruised to a comfortable win and keeping the slimmest of hopes for the playoff and KTK were shown the doors in what was supposedly their home ground. Karthik was handed the MoM for his blitzkrieg innings with a strike rate of over 200.

KXIP should winn all the rest of the matches and wait for other teams at the  to fail miserably to go to the playoffs.

KTK have all the doors shut and should wait for the next season.
