Pakistan in West Indies Test Series
1st Test, Providence Stadium, Guyana
When the most of the cricketing world has forgot about Test Cricket after a carnival CWC 2011 and an ongoing IPL T20 extravaganza and when two of the most disturbed cricketing teams which are in the headlines for all the wrong reasons for quite a while play together in that format and who is to be blamed for such a low key tournament.
Still, Whatever may be the reason and whoever may be playing . They are playing cricket and that too international level and the game never ceases to surprise and only the spirit of cricket can help a series like this one to get some attention and oh boy! it really did. For the first 3 days of the match i would bet much of the cricket followers would not even have heard about a test match that is being played in Guyana and after 3days when the game entered the 4th day i would again bet all of those who ignored got into the groove to know the result. This match is one for people who suggest big scores alone could draw attention. This match would be etched in history with almost half of the dismissals in the match are LBW’s and sammy would take credit for five out of it and do remember that sammy did it all by his own in this match ,capturing a total of 7 wickets out of which 5 were LBW’s and two disturbed the wood work. For, Pakistan saeed Ajmal got the breakthrough’s with a total of 11 victims falling for his variety of spin.
In this match totally dominated by bowlers another bowler sizzled not only with the ball but also with his bat providing a gladiatorial resistance , Bishoo the tiny dynamite seems to be a runaway success for Windies who are in search for a matured spinner and they seemed to have found the answer. Windies who were struggling in the ODI’s before restoring some pride continued their winning form in the test beating Pak’s with a 40 run margin which is supposedly a huge margin considering the scenario of the match where only a total 716 runs were scored over 4 innings that to for the fall of 40 wickets with a match high score of 52 by the ever sensible Misbah-ul-haq.
Sammy was correctly adjudged the MoM for his match winning performance in the 4th innings.Sammy finished with figures of 7/45 in 29 overs for the match.
Still Not many would worry about the next test……
